| Brief overview Estonian IT College in BriefThe Estonian IT College is a private non-profit higher educational institution (UAS - University of Applied Sciences), established in 2000 and owned by the Estonian Information Technology Foundation (EITF). Founders of EITF demonstrate unique public-private partnership in country - they are: state, represented by the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research, two largest Estonian universities - Tallinn University of Technology and Tartu University, and private sector, represented by Estonian Telecom and Association of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
The strengths of Estonian IT College are based on years of educational and development work using our network of highly educated and experienced specialists of Estonian ICT industry, third sector and academic world.
Estonia has received worldwide attention due to successful implementation of e-election, mobile services, X-Road inter-database layer, e-government solutions based on smart ID-card, open WiFi areas, just to name a few. Several key architects of those success solutions are teaching at IT College too. To provide well balanced knowledge based teaching and practice oriented training, IT College works very closely together with both founder universities as well as with ICT industry in Estonia. Good neighbors of Estonian IT College are Tallinn University of Technology and Tallinn Technology Park Tehnopol. The education in IT College is enriched through international cooperation and networking with more than 10 higher educational partners in different European countries. IT College gives a three-year applied higher education in four curricula. The education combines studies in both IT and telecommunication domains, is of internationally recognized quality and has a strong applied orientation. More than 200 new students will start their studies every year. After finishing the studies the majority of graduates will go to work in specialty areas, both in Estonia and abroad. But they will also continue studies at next level of higher education, pursuing the masters degree at founder Universities or abroad. Estonian IT College is located in campus of Tallinn Technology Park Tehnopol and Tallinn University of Technology, largest engineering and technical science higher educational institution in Estonia. In proximity of College there are more than hundred of small and medium sized companies at different level of incubation or business. Also, the development headquarter of Skype is located in Tehnopol, one of favorite places for internship among students. The unique building of College (opened in 2008) combined with its surrounding technological and natural landscape is a complete environment for international studies, research, meetings and recreation activities.
