Estonian Information Technology College student’s Code of Ethics

 

The Code of Ethics defines standards of behaviour to be followed by the students of the Estonian Information Technology College (hereafter IT College) during their studies.

 

According to the Code of Ethics, each student is expected to

1. Uphold the reputation of the IT College and avoid any actions that may harm it in any way  

2. Continually improve his/her knowledge and gain skills to apply the aquired knowledge

3. Comply with the academic traditions by

3.1.   avoiding plagiarism and informing university officials of any cases of plagiarism known to him/her.
3.2.   not using any other materials during assessments, except for the ones specifically approved by the lecturer
3.3.   not submitting anyone else’s work as his/her own, or resubmitting his/her own work after having once gained credits for it
3.4.   not substituting for another student during assessment, does not communicate his/her knowledge
3.5.   not knowingly presenting incorrect (false) data in his/her work and documents

4. Avoid using his/her professional knowledge in a way that it could damage the interests, work process or work results of other individuals or organizations

5. Be honest and helpful towards his/her co-students and the employees of the IT College

6. Show respect and care for the property of the IT College; follow the code of conduct on and around the College premises.

7. Avoid situations where his/her behaviour would distract or interfere with the study process, such as:

7.1.   being late for the lectures without a legitimate reason
7.2.   using the communicative features of a mobile phone during lectures or at any other time when it could disturb others

8. Treat all co-students with equal respect despite of their race, nationality, religion, gender, age, physical or mental abilities.
